One of our most luxurious jeans was the slim raw denim tonal stitch Grand Street, created back in our second year of operation when we were inspiring the denim industry as one of the first one-man brands. Slim with stark, dark blue appearance, they were crafted in a unique sulfur dyed indigo and topped off with tone-on-tone stitch detail. We called the color "Niagara Blue." The tone-on-tone version gave-off a dark blue green cast, which appears more blue than green when paired with matching stitch color. However, when the same denim was paired with a rich contrasting orange stitching, as with our best-selling version of the Grand Street at that time, the fabric revealed to be more greenish.
From 2012 though 2013, one of our all-time best sellers was the Niagara Blue Grand Street with orange top stitching. This style was the first and only time we used this vibrant orange color as the top stitching on a men's dark indigo jean. However, we did find the thread color as the perfect contrast for Pale Blue denim styles of later seasons.
One of the keys to the Grand Streets success was the fit. Compared to most men’s slim fit jeans, it has a bit more room above the knee in the upper thigh area for ease of movement. We added slightly more room around the seat area while keeping to a modern tapered silhouette overall. The denim we use in constructing our raw styles had the right balance of body, crisp and firmness, without being so hard or heavy, that you would need to torture yourself for weeks to break-in the jeans. Keeping in mind that all raw jeans shrink and grow, we chose denims that fade beautifully, are sanforized and mercerized for reduced shrinkage.
