Williamsburg vs. Levi's Fit Guide

We review the measurements of the Levi’s 541 Athletic Fit jeans, contrasting them to our closest fit, the relaxed straight South 2nd Street. The Levi’s jeans are imported and made in stretch fabric, while the Williamsburg jeans are American made, produced in quality U.S. or Japanese rigid denim. We do plan a stretch version of the South 2nd in the future.

In review of the Levi’s spec chart you’ll find an overall larger waist opening, seat and rise than the Williamsburg jeans. However, the Levi’s are ½” smaller at the thigh and 1” at the leg opening. Not seen on the measurements chart is the knee spec, which is ½” smaller on the Williamsburg jeans. The waist opening of the Levi’s seems so oddly large, we are concerned that maybe we made an error in our records. Our experience with guys with athletic bodies find they usually like our South 2nd Street fit because of the larger thigh measurement, adding waist band alterations to make the waist opening smaller and sometimes leg tapering.

Measurements are taken from actual production samples. Our recorded specs may differ slightly from jean to jean, so we average and take into consideration the targeted measurements. When comparing sizing, please note, we use total circumference measurements in our fit charts. Others may use 1/2-circumference.
