Sanforized denim has gone through a process of stretching and shrinking the fabric yarn to reduce shrinkage from washing. Un-sanforized denim, also known as loomstate, has not undergone this process and will shrink a lot more from washing. Un-sanforized denim is not common, but artisan shops will carry it for the purists.
