Formerly known as M400STIB, this new model retains the same #400 Standard Wide Fit silhouette that fans of Momotaro denim have come to love. Crafted from 14.7oz "特濃-TOKUNO BLUE" selvedge denim, these jeans feature a deep, rich indigo shade that intensifies with wear.
What makes this denim truly exceptional starts with the 100% Zimbabwe cotton yarn that forms the fabric. Sourced for its long-staple fibers, this cotton produces a strong yet luxuriously smooth weave. The yarns are tightly spun, contributing to the fabric’s unexpectedly soft, almost silky texture, setting it apart from the coarser feel of many raw denims. Though rigid in its raw state, the fabric drapes with an elegant flow, thanks to its refined construction.
When we first saw these jeans hanging on the rack at a 2024 NYC tradeshow, we weren’t quite sure what to make of the trouser-inspired details. But then we saw them in motion—worn by a Momotaro representative. The wide legs draped effortlessly, maintaining a structured yet flowing silhouette that gently tapered at the rolled hem. The way they moved was striking, unlike anything we’d seen before. Without even knowing the model number, we had to ask—what jeans were these? That’s when we knew we had to carry them.
The #400 Standard Wide Fit is Momotaro’s most relaxed silhouette, featuring a deep rise and generous room through the seat and thighs. The wide-straight leg gently tapers from the knee down, especially when cuffed, offering a balanced shape with a controlled drape. Unlike traditional five-pocket jeans, this model incorporates a trouser-style interior waistband facing, designed to reduce indigo transfer—so feel safe tucking in your white tee. The button fly closure is reinforced with custom Momotaro hardware, while details like the pink & white selvedge ID, hidden back pocket rivets, and engraved buttons highlight the brand’s signature craftsmanship.
