The Stagg Street Loose Straight Jeans mark several firsts for Williamsburg Garment Company. They're our first jeans made from Japanese Washi Selvedge Denim, our first core jeans model built on the Stagg Street fit, and among the first styles produced entirely in-house as we expand our ready-to-ship collections.
Japanese washi denim blends premium cotton with traditional washi paper fibers, creating a fabric that looks heavier than it feels. It's exceptionally soft, lightweight, breathable, and durable, with a unique texture that sets it apart from conventional denim. It almost feels like it has stretch, even though it doesn't.
Originally developed for our patch-pocket work pants, the Stagg Street fit is inspired by classic American workwear, featuring a longer rise and a roomy loose straight leg. After becoming one of our favorite patterns, we adapted it into our signature core jeans model, featuring the details found throughout our classic jeans, including two coin pockets and a hidden welt pocket beneath the waistband.
Each pair is cut, sewn, and finished in our Greenpoint, Brooklyn studio. These jeans also represent a new chapter for WGC, as we move from primarily pre-order production to manufacturing our own in-stock collections entirely in-house—from pattern making through final construction.
If you're looking for a jean that offers something genuinely different, the Stagg Street delivers. Combining innovative Japanese Washi Selvedge Denim, a timeless loose straight fit, and American-made craftsmanship, it's a modern classic that showcases where Williamsburg Garment Company is headed.
