How to hem flared jeans

The steps behind hemming or shortening flared jeans are a little different from those of most jeans or pants with a straight or tapered leg opening. Depending on how wide the flared hem is, it often has a curved shape that appears straight when worn.
On this pair of Boyish jeans, we marked the length at the inseam. A line is drawn straight across to the outseam, and then we add an arch 1/4" from peak center. The jeans then chain stitched hemmed.
