Equity Crowdfunding in 2014

By Maurice Malone Published November 09, 2014 (updated June 12, 2021)

Back in 2014 we considered and researched starting an Equity Crowdfunding campaign. The JOBS Act, signed into law in 2012 allowed for small businesses to raise investment capital through crowdfunding websites from accredited and non-accredited investors. Unlike donation in exchange-based crowdfunding, Title III of the JOBS Act made it possible for the average American to invest and become an owner in small and start-up businesses. Ultimately, we didn't go down this road in our search for funds to grow the company.
